The official release of Species Seventeen, kindle version, debuted on Amazon today (link below). The hard cover and paperback editions will be approved later this week. I’ve gone with Kindle Direct because of the higher royalties given when going exclusive with Amazon. After that, Apple Books and the like. Now I’ve got to begin to think about advertising and marketing. As a finance guy, marketing is like space magic - very hard to get a handle on the true ROI. At work I’m naturally skeptical when our marketing department asks for dollars, and even more so when I ask for concrete evidence that these dollars are driving a positive return, and get a very esoteric response. Don’t get me wrong, I have lots of marketing friends out there who swear by it, and as my wife will remind me, the rules of my universe aren’t the rules of The Universe. So here I am, confronting sorcery and space magic to figure out the best way to market my book.
If you’ve gotten here, its because you either know me in real life and are here to support me, or actually read the book and found it worthy enough to follow me to this site. In either case, I thank you for your interest and will reward with news about my writing and additional content on the Humanity’s Leap series, relating to the characters I love so much. I’m going to write some short stories to enhance your understanding of the characters, because they’re going to be with us for several books to come. Eventually, when I’ve got enough short stories, I might release them in book format to the general public, but if you’re going to invest your time into my work, I’m going to provide return on that as best I can.
Just keep in mind I do work full-time as a CFO until I retire some day, and that pays the bills. Obligation and Duty are big things for me. But I have enough personal time to support this as well.
